At the outset we were three, then adding a female vocalist called Elizabeth who was awfully English, posh and terribly well spoken and calling ourselves Mandragora. Along came several mates and musicians, at different times to join in the fun, and out of the rehearsals, if you can call them that, came two professionally recorded tracks, June & July and Sliding into love 1986. I think we got ripped-off for our money back then. £600 for the services of a seventeen year old former tape-op. In time it all fizzled away due to expanding families, struggling businesses and close friends dropping dead from smoking related diseases at the age of 41…stuff like that.
Then some twenty years later our paths crossed again in a furniture warehouse, and the line up that was later called Pu ling Su reformed for another try. Some geyser described our cowboy outfit as “Four Old Gits From Mars”. So our work got titled up 4OGFM for a while. Then on the advice of Gary from EMI we became “Music Inc”. A much more professional name for the noughties don’t you think? Personally I like 4OGFM better. We even had the audacity back then to play a one-and-only gig at a college in east London.
Then we met some bloke in pub...Enter Big Bill The Heff from The Green Man Toot Hill, and so began a new chapter. At last, a real musician in the so called band.Talk about a steep learning curve, suddenly we all had to learn how to play, sing, write and are loving every minute of it in the process. The opportunity to evolve, create and share, with great friends, that you love and respect, what a fantastic journey…Anyway, we all have stories to tell, and the rest as they say… is history.

You are most welcome to use the music and lyrics in any way you feel fit. Use your imagination, make them your own, play them, record them. There is of course the ugly business of copyright, which affects us all. So if you want to perform or record a particular number, you’ll have to discuss terms with us I’m afraid as we own the copyrite. Anyway feel free to download the words and tracks from this website. Enjoy!
